THINGS I'VE LEARNED...

Here we are, back home again! We had a wonderful week.
I thought I'd share a few

THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM LIVING IN FLORIDA:

*Possums sleep in the middle of the road with their feet in the air.
*There are 5,000 types of snakes on earth and 4,998 live in Florida.
*There are 10,000 types of spiders...ALL 10,000 live in Florida..plus a couple no one's seen before.
*If it grows, it sticks; if it crawls, it bites.
*It's not a shopping cart...it's a buggy.
*People actually grow and eat okra.
*'Fixinto' is one word.
*Backwards and forwards means 'I know everything about you'.
*You don't PUSH buttons, you MASH them.
*All the festivals across the state are named after a fruit, vegetable, grain,
insect or animal.
*There are only four spices: salt, pepper, pepper sauce and ketchup.
*100 degrees Fahrenheit is 'a little warm.'
*Anything below 70 degrees is a 'cold snap.'
*Fried catfish is the other white meat.
*EVERYONE can't be a Floridian...it takes talent!

& one more....

*GATORS are GREAT!

Susan, I know you are glad to be home. It doesn't matter where you visit, the one doing the visiting will find something out different of their ordinary. LOL! your list was great!
Welcome back,
Miriam :)

Hey Susan, I don't know how I missed this "funny." And are you saying you've never had okra as a food? :) Florida is a different kind of place - that is for sure. It reminds me a melting pot. So many folk retire there from everywhere. I haven't been in 30 years - not sure why but even back then I could sense a lack of southern hospitality - and it may have been where I was at. But I haven't been back. The girls want to go though. So maybe I need to make a trip. The list was lol funny. Blessings ~ Cathryn

Oh yes, I've eaten okra! I LOVE it.. boiled, fried, in soups, etc.
I'm from Central Fla. (Ocala/Orlando area), and the people there are great!! The list I printed wasn't composed by me (in fact, I left out some that didn't really seem to apply to the 'Florida' I know).
It was a wonderful place to grow up in, but I don't miss the heat or the traffic!
