I meant to do my work today --
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
And a butterfly flitted across the field,
And all the leaves were calling me.

And the wind went sighing over the land,
Tossing the grasses to and fro,
And a rainbow held out its shining hand--
So what could I do but laugh and go?

Thanks, Susan!
Even though it was written almost 100 years ago, this poem is definitely ME! I'm so easily distracted...especially this time of year when cool weather arrives! We are so blessed to be surrounded by such beauty!

Susan, this has always been my favorite poem. Since elementary school. Found it in a book of poems at our school's book fair. Thanks for posting it with a beautiful image.
