WISDOM for WEDNESDAY

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you."
Matthew 6:33

The most special hymns and choruses are the ones that sing the very Word of God.
'Seek Ye First' is an example, and each of the three verses reflects words from Matthew:

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God
And His righteousness
And all these things shall be added unto you
Hallelu, Hallelujah! (Matt. 6:33)

Man shall not live by bread alone
But by every word
That proceeds from the mouth of God
Hallelu, Hallelujah! (Matt. 4:4)

Ask, and it shall be given unto you
Seek and ye shall find
Knock and the door shall be opened unto you
Hallelu, Hallelujah! (Matt. 7:7 & 8)

THIS IS FUNNY!

My sister, Margee, sent me this.
I just have to pass it on.............

You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on..
If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, 'Who's on First?' might have turned out something like this:

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT
ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.
ABBOTT: Mac?
COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou.
ABBOTT: Your computer?
COSTELLO: I don't own a computer. . I want to buy one.
ABBOTT : Mac?
COSTELLO: I told you, my name's Lou.
ABBOTT: What about Windows?
COSTELLO: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?
ABBOTT: Do you want a computer with Windows?
COSTELLO: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?
ABBOTT: Wallpaper.
COSTELLO: Never mind the windows.. I need a computer and software.
ABBOTT: Software for Windows?
COSTELLO: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?
ABBOTT: I just did.
COSTELLO: You just did what?
ABBOTT: Recommend something.
COSTELLO: You recommended something?
ABBOTT: Yes.
COSTELLO: For my office?
ABBOTT: Yes
COSTELLO: OK, what did you recommend for my office?
ABBOTT: Office.
COSTELLO: Yes, for my office!
ABBOTT: I recommend Office with Window's.
COSTELLO: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?
ABBOTT: Word.
COSTELLO: What word?
ABBOTT: Word in Office.
COSTELLO: The only word in office is office.
ABBOTT: The Word in Office for Windows.
COSTELLO: Which word in office for windows?
ABBOTT: The Word you get when you click the blue 'W'.
COSTELLO: I'm going to click your blue 'w' if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: That's right What do you have?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: I need money to track my money?
ABBOTT: It comes bundled with your computer.
COSTELLO: What's bundled with my computer?
ABBOTT: Money.
COSTELLO: Money comes with my computer?
ABBOTT: Yes. No extra charge.
COSTELLO: I get a bundle o f money with my computer? How much?
ABBOTT: One copy.
COSTELLO: Isn't it illegal to copy money?
ABBOTT: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.
COSTELLO: They can give you a license to copy money?
ABBOTT: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

(A few days later)

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?
COSTELLO: How do I turn my computer off?
ABBOTT: Click on 'START'.

GRANDPARENTS' DAY

For Grandparents' Day, my daughter, Jami, wanted to lovingly remember her Grandad, William Beserock, Sr., (who was affectionately known as 'Tadela').

This photo of the two of them was taken quite a few years ago, and before his difficult battle with advanced Type I diabetes. Sadly, he left us much too soon.

He was loved by all who knew him. Music was in his soul, and he could whistle like nothing you've ever heard! (I've always said that whistling comes from a happy heart!). He could also sing beautifully and play the guitar. The song on the playlist, 'My Special Angel' is one he used to sing to Jami.

As the father of five sons (but no daughters), his grandaughters were the joy of his life. I don't think I ever saw him when he didn't have a treat in his shirt pocket for them.

I couldn't find the music to the song he used to always sing to Lisa, but here are the words:

Let the Rest of the World Go By
(words & music by J. Keirn Brennan & Ernest R. Ball, 1919)

With someone like you, a pal so good and true
I'd like to leave it all behind, and go and find
A place that's known to God alone...
Just a spot to call our own.

We'll find perfect peace where joys never cease
Out there beneath the kindly sky.
We'll build a sweet little nest, somewhere in the west
And let the rest of the world go by.

(By the way, 'The Shadow of Your Smile' is one he knew I liked, & would sing for me).
What a special man he was!

WHAT A VOICE!

Even though I posted a silly version of this song just the other day, couldn't help sharing little miss Connie Talbot's singing of 'I Will Always Love You'.
She is from the UK, and is seven years old.

It isn't a video, but a slide show of still photos of the most remarkable little singer you'll ever hear!

DOXOLOGY

*****

Every Sunday morning, in the Baptist church I attended as a child, we would stand and sing the 'Doxology' as the ushers proceeded to the front after taking up the offering. I have to confess that there were times I sang the words more from habit than an expression of the heart. Years later, in another church, in another town, I found they sang the same words to a different melody. The meaning is the same: Everything we have is a gift from God, and we offer up our praise to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
*****

The words were written in 1674 by Thomas Ken, a priest in the Church of England. It was written at a time when the established church sang only Scripture (such as the Psalms) as hymns. It was thought to be sinful and blasphemous to write new lyrics for church music. For this reason, Ken's music was first written to be sung at Winchester College. The boys attending this school were given strict instructions to sing the words only in their rooms or for private devotions.
The music, also known as 'Old 100th', Genevan Psalter, 1551, is attributed to Louis Bourgeois.
The words, though simply written, speak volumes, and I am reminded of a verse in James:
'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights.' James 1:17

SEPTEMBER 1...BACK TO PLAY!

WELCOME, September! After a long absence, it's time to get back to PLAY! I started to say 'work', but for me, mosaics is pure enjoyment. Already, I have at least six or seven new projects in mind.
It's also time to resume blogging. Daily posting is too restrictive for me, so the plan is to maintain random posting by titles, but hopefully it will work out to be something new almost every day.
ALSO, a new blog 'GALLERY' is in the works for posting photos of our crafts group's assorted art works. As soon as it's up and running, I'll add the link so you all can check it out.
My daughter, Jami, was here for the weekend, and helped install my new background and clock. I'm hoping to design my own header, but that's for another day.

By the way, your comments and suggestions are always welcome!

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

I'll resume posting again soon, but am currently working on a new look for this blog, as well as adding a new blog gallery for our CCCrafters Group.
Still trying to decide on background, etc.,.....so please check back.
S:)

CHECK THIS OUT, JUSTIN!

There's just no end to the talent
you'll find here in North Carolina!
(With apologies to Dolly Parton,
who wrote & recorded this song)

CREATION vs. Evolution

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Gen. 1:1-2

These are well worth watching!

Four Crises Facing Evolution.....

How Old is the Earth?....

Definitions, Part 1....

Definitions, Part 2....

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing, so on the seventh day He rested from all His work.

HIGH WIRE BEAR

Nice bear waiting for lunch.................

BEACH BUMS??

Bill left his surfboard at home, but seemed to manage okay without it.

BALANCE

A real balancing act!

Can you count how many people he's carrying?

BACK TO SCHOOL

Today was the first day back to school for Justin & Amanda. Hope it's a great year! (& for you too, Alan!).

HOME, SWEET HOME!

Here we are back at home after a fabulous week in Florida!
We enjoyed visiting family and friends, and spending several days at Cocoa Beach.
The weather couldn't have been any better! It was just overcast & breezy enough that we could enjoy breakfast out on the terrace every morning.
It's a lovely stretch of beach that isn't overcrowded. I think our trip this year was even nicer than last year, but it's always good to be back at home!

GREETINGS FROM COCOA BEACH!

Well, here we are at the beach.

There's a wonderful breeze all the time,

so you don't realize the sun is cooking you. Ha!

Pretty Halcyon Days (by Ogden Nash)

How pleasant to sit on the beach,

On the beach, on the sand, in the sun,

With ocean galore within reach,

And nothing at all to be done!

No letters to answer,

No bills to be burned,

No work to be shirked,

No cash to be earned.

It is pleasant to sit on the beach

With nothing at all to be done.

JOKES for JUDY

Judy in the hospital...............

This explains what happened in the operating room......

WHY, WHY, WHY?

"Why, Why, Why?" (Don't ask me -- I don't have the answers)

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting dead?

Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there is not enough money?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but duckswhen you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Whose idea was it to put an "S" in the word "lisp"?

If people evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Why is it that no matter what color bubble bath you use the bubbles are always white?

Is there ever a day that mattresses are not on sale?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialized?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?

Why is it that no plastic bag will open from the end you first try?

How do those dead bugs get into those enclosed light fixtures?

When we are in the supermarket and someone rams our ankle with a shopping cart then apologizes for doing so, why do we say, "It's all right?" Well, it isn't all right, so why don't we say, "That really hurt, why don't you watch where you're going?"

Why is it that whenever you attempt to catch something that's falling off the table you always manage to knock something else over?

In winter why do we try to keep the house as warm as it was in summer when we complained about the heat?

How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

And my FAVORITE......
The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons are suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

BIBLICAL SCIENCE

Very interesting, but it moves along quickly, so read fast!...........

GENEALOGY HUMOR

Hey, Bill (& Jami, too!)...this one's for you! (heh, heh)

YOU'RE TAKING GENEALOGY TOO SERIOUSLY IF....

*You are the only person to show up at the cemetery research party with a shovel.

*To put the 'final touches' on your genealogical research, you've asked all of your closest relatives to provide DNA samples.

*You were instrumental in having 'non-genealogical use of the genealogy room copy machine' classifled as a federal hate crime.

*Your house leans slightly toward the side where your genealogical records are stored.

*You decided to take a two-week break from genealogy, and the US Post Office immediately laid off 1,500 employees.

*Out of respect for your best friend's unquestioned reputation for honesty and integrity, you are willing to turn off that noisy surveillance camera while he reviews your 38 genealogical research notebooks in your home. The armed security guard, however, will remain.

*You plod merrily along 'refining' your recently published family history, blissfully unaware that the number of errata pages now far exceeds the number of pages in your original publication.

*During an ice storm and power outage, you ignore the pleas of your shivering spouse and place your last quilt around that 1886 photograph of dear Uncle Michael.

*The most recent document in your 'Missing Ancestors' file is a 36-page contract between you and the Jones Billboard Advertising Company.

*'A Loving Family' and 'Financial Security' have moved up to second and third, respectively, on your list of life's goals, but still lag behind 'Owning My Own Microfilm Reader.'

*A magical genie appears and agrees to grant your any one wish, and you ask that the 1890 census be restored.

WISHES FOR JUDY

Judy, this bouquet is for you!

Heard you're feeling not so good

And need some cheering up

Something that would brighten your day

And says you're valued much.

We pray that you will feel God's love

And know that He is near

And that we all are thinking of you

And let you know we care!

RANDOM AUGUST

We will be on the go during the month of August, so blog posting will be random.
Keep checking back often though, because I'll be posting some photos and passing on neat stuff as I find it.

This video is of CTJF Mime Ministry. It's fascinating!

SCRIPTURE for Sunday

Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are His.
He changes times and seasons;
He sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.
He reveals deep and hidden things;
He knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with Him.
--Daniel 2:20-22
