HEROES

Here's a hand to the folks who have courage
To do what they know to be right;
When they enter the way of temptation,
They have a hard battle to fight.
They strive aginst self and their comrades
And SELF is a powerful foe.
All honor to them when they conquer.
A cheer for the folks who say "No!"

There's many a battle fought daily
The world knows nothing about;
There's many a brave Christian soldier
Whose strength puts a legion to rout.
And folks who fight sin singlehanded
Are more of a hero, I say,
Than those who lead armies to battle
And conquer by arms in the fray.

Child of God, be STRONG when you're tempted,
Yield not to the lusts of the world
Stand firm in the power of Jesus
Go forth with His banners unfurled.
"The right!" be your battle cry ever
In waging the warfare of life,
And God, who knows who are His heroes,
Will give you the strength for the fight.

SELF is a very powerful, ever-present foe and God is so gracious to give ongoing help in every moment of need ... if I will just look to Him!

A beautiful poem Susan!

This is just a great poem!

We have to stay imbedded in Him so we can be strong in our Faith.

Thank you both! I had a different poem in mind to post, & while searching for it, came across this one. I like it too!

Hi! This actually has nothing to do with your particular post. I just saw your post on Beth Moore's Bible verse post today and noticed you were from Murphy. A few other time I have seen other ladies on there from Murphy also. I just thought it was interesting because my sister-in-law is from there and it is a small place. Any chance you know Jennifer (used-to-be) Watson or her family?

Hi, Christy!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Hope you'll come back!
I don't think I know a Jennifer Watson. Does she still live here in Murphy, & what is her married name?
I'm not a native of NC, but this is a great place to live.
How are you doing with your verse memorization?
Blessings, Susan

No, she doesn't live in Murphy anymore, but her parents do - Ken and Vicki Watson. I was under the impression that Murphy was pretty small, so that's why I thought you would probably know them. I'm pretty sure they attend the Baptist church there.

I'm doing OK on the scripture memory. The last couple of months have been a bit more of a struggle for me. I chose some really long verses and I think that was a mistake. I'm trying to get back into it and especially work on getting back into reviewing the ones I have already learned. How are you doing with it?

Chrissy,
I'm sorry, I don't know the Watsons, although the names do sound somewhat familiar.
I'm doing lousy with the Scripture memory. The first several went fairly well, but I have to have a one or two-word prompting to get me started on each verse thereafter. Still trying, though.

Don't beat yourself up over needing a prompting on the verses!!! The important thing about this is that we are putting scripture into our minds. Just the process of working on them and meditating on them is enough to get the good stuff in and keep the bad stuff out. :) :) :) We don't have to know the verses perfectly; just knowing what they are about will be very valuable to use in our day to day lives! Keep at it!!!
