A round watermelon can take up alot of room in the frig., and they sit awkwardly on the refrigerator shelves.
Smart Japanese farmers have forced their watermelons to grow into a square shape by inserting the melons into square, tempered glass cases while the fruit is still growing on the vine.
We have the Japanese to thank for this clever 'cone', as well...

Clever advertising, but the distraction would probably cause alot of wrecks!

Those square watermelons are fabulous! lol I wonder if they taste as good as the normal ones. That cone turned sitting furniture is very clever too. Love the advertisiting. The Japanese really know how to think outside the box!
